Second Grade

I have to admit that taking back to school pictures scares the you know what out of me.  I see other photographers do it with ease and am at awe at what they produce.  But me – I always feel like I’m scrambling, my kids are so not in the mood, 50 people I know are trying to say hi and how was your summer………and well the end result is never what I envision.

But there was a recent shake up on the photography forum I’m on, and in certain ways it freed me to be ok with not every picture being perfect.  In addition, I realized I was missing out on special moments and memories because it was way more important to me to get a PERFECT photo than it was to capture life.  Well that’s going to change.

So with that, I present to you Olivia’s first day of second grade.  Did she have a good day???  You be the judge…..

Olivia Powell on the way home from second grade – “Mommy, that was the best day of the summer!”

You can’t ask for anything better.

Macro Photography

I have always been interested in learning macro photography, but it was on a long list of other things I need/wanted to learn.  Clickinmoms rolled out a new macro class last month and I eagerly signed up!  Although life got in the way and I didn’t finish all of my assignments, I did enjoy the class very much and learned enough to be able to start playing with macro photography.  Here are some of the photos I took during the class.
